fence blown over 70 km wind storm fort erie linda randall nov 1 2013
the idea girl says
i’m a little late.. it’s nove 11 2013 and i took the photos on nov 1 2013.. been busying writing a new novel for my nanowrimo 2013 challenge and yes I completed it within 5 days (wrote and typed 50,000 words).
I’m still working on the novels characters and settings files (trying to organize the series that I began writing in 2008, this one will be book 4).
as for the photos
harry and I (linda randall photographer video blogger film producer on youtube – the idea girl says, idea girl canada, IGC entertainment ca, idea girl consulting and green cut guy (harry’s funny i’m going to mow a lawn backwards comedy videos) went out to view the damages from the 70 to 100 km wind gusts based on the weather networks wind warnings red screen on the TV.
well, we were a lucky bunch here, well not all of us.
I must say sorry to those RIP that got killed by tree branches falling (a lady in port colborne) and rumored a woman in fort erie? (haven’t looked up those stories yet to see who…)
I was just telling harry that day someone’s gonna get killed and they did (psychic feeling)
its terrible but we do have lots of old and pretty big trees here, so what I’m saying is that we were very lucky it wasn’t WORSE.
there was loads of little branches strewn along the parkway, and the city crews went out RIGHT away *even when it was windy* and kept it as clear as possible (I was impressed).
The dock i have to go back and film it, it’s MOVED sideways now.. i’m trying to figure out who do i contact about that… I’m always emailing the city of fort erie about fixing pot holes, holes in the sidewalk, yes i’m very proactive with taking care of my environment inside and outside.
I hate seeing things not fixed, it bugs me.. big time! So I make sure someone knows about it who can fix it 🙂
anyways the worse thing we saw and HEARD the cracking noise was when one fella’s fence was ripped out of the ground and twisted down.. it was the FREAKIest thing to watch!
he came out an hour later (we went into tim hortons on garrison rd for a tea for cover till the winds died down. I did not feel SAFE out there filming. Harry didn’t care – la la la la.. hes not scared of stuff like that, I’m always worried about little things that can hurt me (nature wise).
so we come back out and the guy’s slamming this sledgehammer into the ground to fix his fence.. i was impressed, he’s strong for an older sort of looking guy 🙂
he probably wondered why on earth I was taking pictures of his fence.
Its because not everyone can go outside (lots of people out there are handicapped and stuck in a hospital or in their homes) so I give them adventure and fun in a virtual photo video blogging way.
I’m speaking from experience.. i’ve been bed ridden before for over a year and a half, not able to walk, and been in a wheel chair for 2 months straight.
It wasn’t easy to deal with, having my freedom to walk and roam the streets and video film anything that amuses me.
So I’ve learned to appreciate it, and now I share it on my blogs, so they can enjoy life too, from their computers 😉
oh yeah I almost forgot.. i have more pics for you…

** we could not believe our eyes.. across from the fishing store.. is this dock, it’s usually about 2 to 3 feet ABOVE the water level, in this photo it disappears and harry points out across the river buffalo new york usa is pouring even more water in.. that day we all got 50 mm of rain and buffalo floods alot so they drain it from their canals into the niagara river… by the peace bridge, usually you can see it rising at certain times of the day. **
