Activities include a cooking demo by FESS hospitality and tourism students, a chainsaw woodcarving demo by Niagara woodcarver James Penney, and a “living” scarecrow display at the opening of the market. Activities for the children will be held directly across the street at the new town square including pumpkin bowling, pie eating contest, pumpkin bean bag toss, pumpkin carving, a RIDGEWAY EXPRESS train ride plus street performers and artisans (jugglers, stilt walkers, sidewalk chalk artists). 7 am – 2 pm Farmers’ Market open – across from Village Square
9 am – 12 pm Horse-drawn hayrides (sponsored by Lasting Impressions) along Ridge Road between Connection Drive and Wilson Street – boarding and disembarking at 234 Ridge Road (across from Beachcombers building)
10 am – 10:30 am Guitar music by “Will” at the market
10 am – 2 pm See all of the street scarecrows along Ridge Road between Wilson Street and Disher Street – all ages welcome to vote for their favourite for a chance to win one of three fabulous prize baskets filled with gifts from downtown merchants – pick up your map and ballot at Village Square
10 am – 2 pm Ridgeway Express kiddy train rides – circling the Village Square
10 am – 2 pm Pumpkin bowling at the Village Square
10 am – 2 pm Pumpkin decorating at the Village Square
10 am – 2 pm Sidewalk chalk artists at the Village Square
10 am – 2 pm Stilt walker at the Village Square
10 am – 12 pm Food demonstrations by Fort Erie Secondary School culinary students at the Village Square
10:30 am – 11 am Pumpkin pie eating contest at the Village Square (three age categories with prizes donated by Trailside Bar & Grill, Schmittz ‘n’ Gigglez and the Lupus Foundation)
11 am – 2 pm Juggler and magician at the Village Square
12 pm – 2 pm Outdoor concert with Barley Brae at the Village Square (bring a chair or dance in the square)
2 pm Prize drawings at the Village Square (festival and market closes)
