Niagara Regional Police spokesman Paul Day tells Bullet News this morning that the 37-year-old man has been located and is “safe and sound.”

Fire broke out at the complex, located at 55 North St. and 99 1/2 Geneva Street shortly before 9:20 p.m. est

The building had three commercial properties on the main floor facing Geneva Street, one apartment on the main floor facing North Street and three apartments on the second floor. The complex reportedly includes the Golden Brothers Sports Bar.

An official damage estimate has yet to be released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the 1 District criminal investigations branch at 905-688-4111 ext., 4272.

The Ontario Fire Marshals Office and police are investigating and have asked anyone with information about the fire to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service, at 905- 688-4111 ext. 4272.

Tenant unaccounted for after St. Catharines apartment complex fire

ST. CATHARINES One man is unaccounted for after fire tore through a Geneva Street apartment complex Monday night.

Niagara police said all tenants except one — a 37-year-old man who lived in one of the upper units – have been accounted for following the blaze which began about 9:30 p.m. and was an inferno when fire crews arrived a few minutes later.–tenant-unaccounted-for-after-st-catharines-apartment-complex-fire
