Sambo’s family restaurant.. home made burgers thick too.. fries with home style beef gravy (yummy) great food, service and sitting is cramped.. 4 to 6 at a table (call to reserve if over 4 people. seating for 2 at tables.. busy at 12 noon!

directions from USA Canada Peace Bridge, get off at Central Ave head south to Garrison Rd, which turns into Hwy #3, once over welland ship canal’s you will see Sambo’s on your right. Nice town, with lots of little shops, antiques, clothing etc, in and around this restaurant, limited parking and seating inside.
there’s the welland canal about a 2 min walk, with more parking along the river walkways and trails… canal days is held close to this place every summer
taking a walk down memory lane there’s several plaques with pictures from the late 1800s to 1900s showing the history of the area.
QEW fort Erie, thompson rd, bertie st Exit, turn right on thompson at Bertie, drive past walmart, no frills, past garrison it turns into helena st (golden nugget bingo on left), and down past dominion rd, straight to waverly beach park (free parking here),
there’s a washroom there but not open yet…
benches, picnics, dog walking, beach , suntanning, water, lake erie, swimming, explore the old ruins, nature, wildlife, dirt trails, goes up friendship trail to the niagara parkway, old fort erie is about a 10 to 20 min walk (i’m slow), cycling about 2 mins from here to old fort erie (snack bar opens seasonal hours)

From Buffalo, New York Enter Canada across the Peace Bridge. After passing through Customs and the toll booths, take an immediate right to Central Ave. Turn right onto Central Ave and follow Central Ave. toward Lake Erie. Turn right on Lakeshore Road then follow the road a short distance to Old Fort Erie.
From Niagara Falls/St. Catharines/Toronto Follow the QEW south toward Fort Erie. Take the Central Ave. exit. Turn right onto Central Ave. Follow Central Ave. south toward the Niagara River. Turn right then follow the road for a short distance to Old Fort Erie.
